Day 1 27 March - OMG Did Day 1 for Beginner's Running Guide. Didn't know I had let myself get so-o-o unfit. Leg muscles so atrophied (lost muscle mass) had trouble with mechanics of running and  felt discomfort in my hips. my poor heart muscle struggled too so I  got close to  my max heart rate
220-59 (my age) =  161bpm. Was in the 150s at one point. By minute 16, not much difference between the 'run' and the walk.LOL  Favourite parts, the warm up,the walks and the warm down. Will do one of the following core workouts later
Flat Belly and Round Booty workout  Really challenging only made to 8min 30secs last time
Core Exercises for the True Beginners Informative and  gives good advice on 'form'

PWD All About Me

Kia ora, talofa, malo e lelei, hello.  My name is  Whaea Patsy Wynyard and I teach at Bay of Islands College.  I am lucky enough to have 9T for English AND Health and PE.  I was born in Kawakawa and attended primary and secondary schools in this area until I left to train as a teacher at Waikato University.  I live in Karetu and love our kura.
I have always enjoyed learning new things and appreciate people who know what they are talking about.  I like to umpire and coach netball and the biggest challenge I face is TIME... there just isn't enough of it.
This year I would like to learn how to effectively and efficiently lead our Māori Department and to continue to build my reo proficiency. I must try to be better organised so that I am able to get my work / life balance right.

About 9T

We are a group of 26 Year 9 students in the Reo rua bilingual unit at Bay of Islands College.   Bay of Islands College is located in a small New Zealand town called Kawakawa.  One of the things Kawakawa is famous for is being the only town with a train running through it on state highway 1.

We are the teina of the Reo Rua unit and our class is in Totara House.  We uphold the values of  Totara which are respect,  to be responsible, resilience, manaakitanga.

Everyday starts in the marae with taumata.  Everyone takes turns at leading Taumata which is where we say karakia, sing a waiata and then someone stands up to present their mihi.
We always bless our food with a karakia and sometimes we say karakia before and at the end of our lessons.

We have whitu kaiako plus our option kaiako.  We learn tika which is Māori  performing arts where we learn songs and kapahaka.

We share our learning here on our class blog and invite you to leave comments.
